Masisi directs Ambassadors to stand up to Khama’s Botswana attack

President Mokgweetsi Masisi says that he has directed all Botswana Ambassadors deployed across the world to start responding and rebutting his predecessor Ian Khama’s attacks on Botswana in order to expose his behaviour and set the record straight.

In a leaked audio that was recorded at the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) National Council over the long holidays, Masisi stated that following the disparaging attacks of Botswana by the former President he met with all Ambassadors for an intervention.

Masisi said he directed them to stand up to Khama’s attacks and to tell the world the truth about what he is fighting for and his behaviour.

“Khama has been going around tarnishing the image of the country and my name accusing me of plotting to assassinate him.

“He is also accusing my government of detaining people willy-nilly Between me and him who is capable of killing,” Masisi quizzed.

He added that Khama even had the audacity to report him to the United Nations (UN) while he never sat a foot there during his tenure as president.

“Amid these attacks by Khama I met the Ambassadors and directed tem to stand up to him.

“For the first time Khama will be responded should he dare attack me and the country again,” Masisi said in the recording.

President Masisi also called on Khama’s associates to caution him before hs faces repercussions.

The former President has since released a statement dismissing Masisi’s remarks.

In the statement Khama accused Masisi of dishonesty and inventing stories.
